OJAS - vitality of body


Today we are going to discuss a disputed entity of body called Ojas. we can't see it through microscope or label this entity to any constituents of body, still we can see it's effect on body and mind very well.
Some scholars relate it with Bala or immunity. but it is beyond of it.
According to texts , it is supreme essence of all Dhatu. We can say it is
1.it is body entity which lodges Prana
2.entity which has strength to keep body, mind, sense organ and soul together
3.vital energy or fluid of body required for growing, strengthening and surviving in harmony
4. the principal of vital warmth and action throughout body
5. entity which attach life through mental, physical and spiritual energy
Oja is created at the time of embryo genesis. It is located at heart and from there it is circulated in all over body.It is essential for well being of all body organs and it's function.If it get destroyed, there is no life.
Properties of Oja -
It is white or yellowish in color, heavy,cold, soft, slimy, sweet, stable and distinctive.
functions of Oja-
1. keep body alive
2. maintain harmony of all body
3.maintain Bala
4. essential for fetal life ( fertilization and development)
Abnormalities of oja -
1. Ojakshaya ( decreased production)- It causes by anger, sadness, physical work or trauma .It causes decrease in energy, disturbances in function of motor and sense organ, catabolism and even death.
Person become scared, dry , become unhappy , have broken vice, loose luster and get disturbed by small things.
2. Visanstra (displacement )- it causes displacement of joints , body ache, displacement of dosha , loss of physical and mental functions and speech
3. Vyapad ( vitiated by dosha)- causes stiffness , edema due to vata, color difference, heaviness, disturbances in sensory functions.
Food increasing oja- clarified butter, milk, homemade butter, dry fruits, fresh fruits n vegetables,simple n fresh homemade food, some herbs like shatavari, ashwagandha, indian gooseberry
Actions increasing oja- celibacy, meditation, good behavior, happy mind
Food decreasing oja- salted, spicy, sour, stale, unhygienic food, canned food, coldrinks, alcohol, cigaretts, tobacco
Actions decreasing oja- uncontrolled sex, lying, violence, hating, sorrow, jealousy

Yoga and Pregnancy

Hello all of you and heartiest congratulations! In these days you may getting a lot of advice to do and dont's. For instance may your mother suggest to do something , but your nurse/doctor deny it.Same about exercise.Nowdays there is trend of antenatal yoga. When someone suggest you to join it, there may be questions in your mind , how it acts ? ia it really helpfu? etc. Here we are going to discuss on same issue.

Basically yoga is spiritual science, it was designed for yogi. But still it finds very helpful to alleviate many diseases and conditions . It is master tool to handle stress, which is cause of many known and unknown health related problems.About pregnancy it is definitely helpful.Pregnancy is fragile state of  women's life when she needs more physical, mental and spiritual energy. Here is yoga to make your path comfortable and fulfill your energy levels.

How yoga is helpful?
Yoga believes , there are five subtle layer of body which deals with physique,prana,mind, intellect and bliss
Yoga helps to increase physical flexibility, removes block which allows free movement of prana (living force). it makes mind calm which removes mental blocks and help in fulfill mental energy, at intellectual level yoga improves and clear thought process which reflect in rightful decision making and last and most important it gives you experience of bliss, true happiness which relives stress on all levels.It also helps you to avoid accumulation of extra fats.

What care should be taken before yoga?
First i would like to make sure , yoga means not only postures.It is combination of postures,breathing exercise and meditation.Don't insist on acquiring hard postures. One should perform yoga under expert yoga instructor.Breath holding part of pranayam is strictly contraindicated.One should be empty stomach before performing yoga, if not possible have a cup of milk.don't do yoga on bare floor, use yoga mat or blanket.
You can take  diet 1 hour after yoga .

What should i perform in yoga?
Every person is unique, so i would suggest you should perform under expert supervision. Because there are different postures according to trimester.You may need assistance and proper guidance. so that is your instructor's decision, what you should perform.
